Memorial Health University Medical Center (MHUMC) has received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines - Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. This award recognizes the hospital's commitment to ensuring heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines found in the latest scientific evidence. The goal is to speed recovery and reduce hospital admissions for heart failure patients.

"Memorial is dedicated to improving the quality of care for our patients with heart failure by implementing these guidelines," said Randy Bottner, M.D., physician-in-chief for cardiac services at Memorial Health. "The tools and resources provided by this initiative help us track and measure our success in meeting evidenced-based clinical guidelines to improve patient outcomes."

MHUMC also received the association's Target Heart Failure Honor Roll. Hospitals listed on the honor roll are required to meet specific criteria that improve medication compliance, provides early follow-up care and enhance patient education. The goal is to reduce hospital admissions and help patients improve their quality of life in managing this chronic condition. The Memorial Heart Clinic helps patients with congestive heart failure manage their conditions. Anyone diagnosed with heart failure is welcome to attend an initial visit and consultation. Further enrollment in the Heart Clinic requires an order from a physician. Memorial's team will assist in contacting the patients to participate. The Memorial Health Heart Failure Program provides a heart clinic, extensive education for patients and their families, community education and intense patient follow-up to help people with heart failure live well and stay well.
